Kinumpirma ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na lalagdaan nito ang panukalang batas na magpapaliban sa Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Ito ay upang matutukan ng pamahalaan at Commission on Elections ang kauna-unahang parliamentary elections ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) sa Oktubre.
“I’ll sign it. Because we are facing one of the biggest elements here, we just finished a big election, a midterm election, the BARMM will be next then we will also have the barangay elections,” ani Marcos.
Ayon sa Pangulo, katatapos lamang ng midterm elections at hindi magiging madali para sa Comelec ang magkakasunod na tatlong malalaking halalan sa loob lamang ng maikling panahon.
Hindi rin aniya magiging conflict ang batas sa desisyon ng Korte Suprema na hindi maaaring paikliin ang termino ng mga barangay officials, dahil mapapahaba pa ang kanilang panunungkulan sa postponement ng eleksyon.
“So, we, with a view on the Supreme Court decision that we cannot shorten the term of the barangay officials, we are actually lengthening the term of the barangay officials. So that’s not in conflict. So I think the most sensible and the most common sense solution is to postpone,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.
Dahil dito, iuurong ang BSKE polls sa November 2026 mula sa orihinal nitong petsa na December 1, 2025.
