Pinuri ni House Speaker Faustino Dy III ang pag-upo ni Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian bilang acting Senate President at binigyang-diin ang kahalagahan ng isang maayos at gumaganang Senado upang maisulong ang mga batas, maipatupad ang oversight functions, at mapanatili ang demokratikong pamamahala.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Dy, “On behalf of the House of Representatives, we extend our warmest congratulations to the Acting Senate President, Sherwin Gatchalian, on your assumption of this important responsibility.”
Dagdag pa niya, “At a time when our nation looks to its institutions for stability and leadership, a fully functioning Senate is essential to advancing legislation, exercising oversight, and upholding democratic governance.”
Ipinahayag din ng House Speaker ang kumpiyansa na sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Gatchalian ay magagampanan ng Senado ang mandato nito sa Konstitusyon nang may integridad, kalayaan, at malasakit sa interes ng publiko. Ayon pa sa kanya, “We wish Acting Senate President Gatchalian every success as he leads the chamber in addressing the challenges and opportunities before our country.”
Samantala, nagpahayag rin ng pag-asa si House Senior Deputy Minority Leader at Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila De Lima na ang pagbabago sa liderato ng Senado ay magbubukas ng daan upang mas maging produktibo ito para sa sambayanang Pilipino.
Aniya, “Tulad ng anumang tanggapan ng gobyerno, hindi pwedeng paralisado ang Senado. Umaasa tayo: Sa bagong liderato, uusad at makapagtatrabaho na muli ang Senado para sa Pilipino.”
Nagpahayag din ng suporta ang dating Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers sa bagong mayorya ng Senado, na ayon sa kanya ay nagpakita ng katapatan sa Konstitusyon sa pamamagitan ng pag-iwas sa posibleng constitutional crisis na nakasaad sa Article 6, Section 16 paragraph 2 ng 1987 Constitution.
Ayon kay Barbers, “It is the greatest act of public service when we put the interest of the people and the country above ourselves. Today we have seen this in the collective decision of the new Senate majority. They deserve our support and congratulations.”
Dagdag pa niya, “With this act, the people can now expect that their elected leaders will move forward and tackle the pending matters at hand, aimed at continuing progress and exacting accountability”.
