Pina-subpoena ng Senate impeachment court si Atty. Zuleika Lopez, chief of staff ni Vice President Sara Duterte, upang humarap sa nagpapatuloy na impeachment trial.
Inutos ni Senate impeachment court presiding officer Chiz Escudero ang pagpapalabas ng subpoena matapos ihayag ng House prosecution panel ang mga susunod nitong testigo kaugnay ng artikulo ng impeachment na may kinalaman sa umano’y grave threats.
Ayon kay House prosecutor at Iloilo Rep. Lorenz Defensor, unang haharap bilang testigo si Atty. Jeremy Lotok sa Lunes, Hulyo 13 habang si Lopez naman ay nakatakdang tumestigo sa Martes.
Inutos ni Escudero ang subpoena para kay Lopez na humarap sa Hulyo 13 hanggang 14.
Si Lopez ay nagsilbing chief of staff ni Duterte sa Office of the Vice President noong Hulyo 2022 at dati ring city administrator ng Davao City noong alkalde pa si Duterte.
Naging sentro rin siya ng kontrobersiya noong Nobyembre 2024 matapos siyang ma-contempt at ikulong ng House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability sa gitna ng imbestigasyon sa paggamit ng confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President.
Sinabi ng prosekusyon na mahalaga ang testimonya ni Lopez sa pagpapatunay at pagpapatibay ng mga dokumento at iba pang ebidensiyang ihaharap sa impeachment court.
