Naghain na ng kanyang kontra-salaysay sa Office of the Ombudsman si Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ito’y kaugnay ng kinakaharap nitong reklamo na may kinalaman sa alegasyon ng umano’y maling paggamit ng pondo ng kanyang Office of the Vice President (OVP) at ng Department of Education (DepEd), noong siya pa ang kalihim nito.
Una nang inatasan ng Ombudsman si VP Sara na sagutin ang alegasyon ng House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability na nagkaroon ng misuse ng confidential funds ng OVP at DepEd.
Bukod kay VP Sara, siyam pang opisyal mula sa OVP at DepEd ang pinangalanan bilang mga respondent sa kaso at pinaghahain din ng counter-affidavit hinggil dito.
Kabilang dito sina Edward Fajarda, Special Disbursing Officer; Gina Acosta, Special Disbursing Officer; Asst. Secretary Atty. Sunshine Charry Fajarda, Director for Strategic Management Office; retired Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin, Undersecretary for Administration; at Annalyn Sevilla, Undersecretary for Finance Service, na pawang mula sa DepEd.
Gayundin sina Atty. Zuleika Lopez, Undersecretary and Chief of Staff; Lemuel Ortonio, Asst. Secretary and Asst. Chief of Staff; Lt. Col. Dennis Nolasco, Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group; at Col. Raymund Dante Lachia, Commander, Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group, Philippine Army, na pawang mula sa OVP.
Nag-ugat ang reklamo sa rekomendasyon ng House Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability na sampahan ng kaso si VP Sara at iba pa kaugnay ng umano’y misuse o maling paggamit ng P500 milyong confidential funds ng OVP at P112.5 milyong confidential funds ng DepEd mula 2022-2024.
